Firing, lighting and firewood
Wood: found in the box on the terrace to the left of the porch door. More wood is stabled at the back of the cottage
For both fireplaces:
Use lighter briquettes when firing. Both stoves / fireplaces are clean-burning and like all of them have some peculiarities:
The fireplace in the living room:
Ash in the fireplace can be lowered into the ash drawer by pushing the ring (A) in and out
When firing: Make sure that the ashtray is slightly protruding (B) when lighting. Then get a very light fire in the oven.
It is not necessary to light from the top as otherwise with rent-burning stoves.
When there is a good fire, push the ash drawer in.
Then air can be supplied via two air valves: the valve to the left of the ash drawer (C), and the valve below the ash drawer (D).
If you open the door when there are still flames in the fire, it must be done carefully or smoke can easily escape.
The fireplace in the attic:
This burns from the front and back. It needs a lot of pull from the door at a glance when you fire up. In this oven you can use the longest logs.
